How CauseAndCorrelation works

Three simple steps between "I wonder if X affects Y" and an actual answer — no spreadsheet required.

1

Pick a question to test

Start from a ready-made template — dozens covering things like sleep, diet, mood, work habits, and more — or write your own. Each study is just a pair of daily questions: a cause ("Did I have caffeine after 2pm?") and a result ("How was my sleep quality?").

Example: "Does reading before bed affect how rested I feel?"
2

Log a quick answer, most days

A simple yes/no or 1–10 scale for each question. It only takes a minute, and missing an occasional day is fine — we work with whatever data you actually have, not a fixed schedule. Reminders land by email, so there's nothing to install or log into.

3

We then find the pattern

Once there's enough data, we automatically run the statistics in the background — checking not just same-day effects but delayed ones too (does yesterday's habit affect today's result?) — and surface a plain-language summary: strong link, moderate link, or no clear link yet.

⚙ Under the hood

What's happening behind the scenes

You never touch a formula or build a chart yourself. Every time you log an answer, we:

It's more rigorous than what you'd likely get from a spreadsheet — with no work on your part.
